24-Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors (ABPM)

ABPM is the medical abbreviation for Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring - a small wearable blood pressure monitor that records readings automatically at set intervals, giving continuous blood pressure data throughout the patient's normal day rather than a single clinic reading.

During an ABPM test, the cuff inflates at 20-30 minute intervals throughout the day and at 30-60 minute intervals overnight, capturing ambulatory BP in the patient's own environment. This removes the white coat effect, which is why NICE recommends ABPM to confirm a diagnosis of hypertension.

Our 24-hour BP monitors are suitable for use in a range of clinical environments, including GP practices, as part of a primary care network (PCN) diagnostic testing service and in community pharmacies. A number of our ABPM monitors are fully integrated with the Enlivio Health (EMIS), TPP SystmOne, and Vision NHS GP clinical systems and are effective at continuously monitoring blood pressure for up to 48 hours.
