This usually means that one or two of the limb leads are struggling to gain a connection with your patient. Start by checking the right arm and left leg limb leads. If either of these two leads have a problem the machine will not be able to give you any traces.

If still having problems, it may indicate an issue with the electrode contact to your patient. Usually this means there maybe something on the patient’s skin blocking contact, or the gel in the electrode is dry.

Remove all limb lead electrodes from your patient. Clear the areas of any residual gel from the electrodes using an alcohol wipe and dry with a paper towel. This should also remove anything on the patient’s skin that may have previously been blocking contact with the electrode.

Once done apply a fresh set of electrodes from a brand-new unopened packet.

With the Universal ECG machine, you can turn the smaller squares that appear in the PDF of the ECG report on and off. This guide shows how to do this.

This setting is something that each user would need to change, as their settings are linked to the user logged into Windows.

Open CardioView

Click on Print Settings

The setting that needs looking at is the Minor Grid in the bottom left-hand corner. We would recommend using Dotted, but Lines can be chosen if preferred.

Click OK and close the CardioView window before attempting to take an ECG.

If you get text appearing in the top right-hand corner of the ECG report, this is known as the report title, and occasionally, text can get added here by mistake. This guide shows how to remove this.

The setting that needs looking at is the Report title in the bottom left-hand corner. You just need to remove any text written in this field.

Click OK and close the CardioView window before attempting to take an ECG.
